Continuing our tourist day out and about in Seattle, we visited the Chihuly Gardens and Glass museum which is located next to the Space Needle. This was a pretty cool place, showcasing the works of Dale Chihuly. There is a museum, gift shop/cafe and outdoor garden. What’s interesting about this museum was that none of the artworks were protected under glass. You could go right up and touch anything – you’re not supposed to, but there’s nothing to stop you other than a single employee in each room to tell you after the fact. There were plenty of lightly supervised children galavanting about the rooms. It’s a miracle nothing gets broken…..at least while we were there 😁.

As you walk into the exhibit

As you walk in the exhibit, you see this very nice glass grouping as shown here on the left. Okay, very nice and pretty.

When you round the corner, this is what you see on the ceiling…..

Wow!

After Chihuly, we walked on over to the Space Needle at the appointed time our over-priced tickets said to arrive. Thank you Ariel & Francisco for treating us!

The lines to go up were unbelievably long! The last time I was at the Space Needle was when Cassandra was 4 weeks old. I don’t recall any long lines. Of course that was almost 27 years ago but still….

The views were still amazing, only the crowds were a deterrent, or maybe we’re just getting too impatient in our golden years.

Panoramic view from atop

While we were there, Mt. Ranier decided to peak out from the clouds, but of course, we forgot to take a photo. A visit to the volcano is on our “to do” list.

On our way back to the car, we encountered a convoy of sorts of various “bikers”. I started taking video after a couple minutes of watching all these people riding down the street. It was like a parade, only different.
