Not everyday is a sunny day. The last couple of days have been partly cloudy to rainy with a high of 61 degrees. Pretty nice really. The rains have been gentle and the breezes cool enough to have the windows open. In my morning talk with Thea Joanna, she told me what she made for lunch yesterday – a zucchini stew that she threw together. After describing it to me, I had to try it! It turned out great, but I forgot to add the fresh parsley, which I will do with my leftovers. Paired with some homemade bread made for a really nice rainy day lunch.

By the way, this is the interior of our little apartment over the hardware store at the marina:

Not luxurious, but functional. The TV is comically small but we don’t really watch it anyway. You can walk out the door onto the roof. Full sized bathroom and kitchen, with a small bedroom housing a queen size bed across from the kitchen. All we really need and quite comfortable.

There is always something to see, even on a rainy day.

Who said you can’t work on the road?

Okay, I’ll bore you with the details…. My set-up includes a surface pro 7 running windows 11, two cameras (one overhead and on the surface pro), iPad for extra lesson books and PDFs, mymusicstaff software to write in assignment notes, and most importantly, a roll-up piano with blue-tooth interface connected to classroom maestro, a great teaching/theory aid. Cordless headphones allow me to move about. The surface pro allows me to annotate PDFs when sharing my screen on zoom. This really helps the student because I can point directly to places in the music I’m talking about. For advanced students, I can annotate directly on the sheet music and send to them right after the lesson. I love my job, what’s left of it! The move really put a damper on my business. Went from 52 students to 11, but that’s okay. I’m taking the advantage of the time off by writing this blog, working on my Greek speaking skills and spending more time with my love (that would be Mr. Einstein McFalls). If I choose to ramp up my business once we land in Greece, my skills will still be fresh.
